The Florida Sea Grant College Program is partnering with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and NOAA Fisheries to implement a statewide sustainable fisheries education program.
Intent of this Program
The intent of this program is to reduce bycatch and discard mortality of fish that are caught and released. Florida Sea Grant provides information to help bring fishermen up to speed about fishing regulations, as well as encouraging them to adopt beneficial fishing practices. This Fisheries Extension Program is a statewide effort to educate recreational fishermen and assist them in making informed decisions on critical issues concerning fishery stocks and aquatic habitats, including reduction of mortality of released fish caught on hook and line.
